So I am planning on majoring in chemical engineering. Tech is more expensive than Davis by 8k a year, for a total of 32k in all. I plan on researching a lot during my undergraduate years, starting in freshman year. Are the opportunities for research at Davis inferior to those at Tech, and how does the quality of research compare? And when I apply for graduate school, is there a big difference between attending Davis rather than Tech? It seems like top graduate programs only accept students from top undergraduate programs.

I would say go to Tech. I live in Davis (I’m I’m high school) and my uncle is an engineering professor. I assure you that research opportunities are few and far between. I’d imagine that Davis looks reasonably competitive to grad schools, but Tech has a significant amount of clout in the engineering world that Davis cannot hope to compete with.

Thanks Connor!
