Georgia Tech- what are my chances??

I am an out of state hispanic from florida and can afford full tuition

ACT:
Composite: 28
Math: 27
English: 28
Reading: 29
Science: 26
My results from the fall test have not yet been received (hopefully i got 29 in math)

GPA fresh-junior (GT calculated) : 3.28 (butchered freshman year)

2 AP's (AP US History + AP Chem)
7 honors classes

Senior Year:
AP Calc
AP Lang
Spanish 4 Honors
Economics Honors
Physics Honors

(Probably going to get all A's first semester which if included, will result in a 3.41 GPA GT calculated)

-----BTW do they take into account B+'s? cause i have countless 88 and 89 semester avg's

EC's (kinda stink for GT since they are looking for leadership but its all i got really)

150+ community service hours--

Mostly church activities. I played guitar for the worship every sunday morning with practice every wednesday night and participated in several outreaches throughout all three years. One example of an outreach was my church's "Back to school bash" where we gave over 300 book bags for free and gave free food to over 1000 people. I also participated in environmental restoration projects.

JV Golf (freshmen year)

Weight Training after school every day (junior + senior year)

Varsity soccer (senior year)

Key Club (sophomore + senior year)- met (meeting) every tuesday during lunch, most of it was serving homeless people food

I also took Advanced art Sophomore year and my drawings were featured in my school's 2011 directory.

Summer preceding junior year i went to the National Youth Leadership Forum on medicine in DC for 10 days where i went to Johns Hopkins and attended several lectures and visited numerous hospitals. I got to meet and shadow physicians. (and got 2 college credits or something like that for it)

Pretty bad, but yet again, I am an out of state hispanic and can afford full tuition. GaTech seems to care alot about hispanics, as they were ranked number one for graduate engineering school in the United States by Hispanic Business magazine.

GT | Newsroom - Georgia Tech Number One Graduate School for Hispanic Engineers
Georgia Tech #1 According to Hispanic Business Magazine | Public Broadcasting Atlanta

At Georgia Tech, 76% of incoming freshmen have a 3.75 or higher, and 93% had higher than a 3.5. Your GPA does not bode well for your admission.

Your ACT scores are in the range of a large proportion of admitted freshmen - but being an engineering heavy school, they generally look for higher scores in the math section. You’re in the bottom third of their admitted freshmen.

Is there any particular reason you aren’t taking AP Physics? Does your school not offer it?

You also list some of your activities as undertaken senior year, but you’ll only be a few months into your senior year when you apply. So what you have is JV Golf, one year of weight training (which is an odd EC - is this an organized activity or is this something that you do yourself by choice?) and one year of Key Club. These are not very compelling ECs.

I think people often overestimate the importance of racial minority status, and I say that as an African American myself. It can help particularly if your test scores are lower than the average, but it’s not a golden ticket.

I’d say you’re borderline/marginal. I hope your fall ACT scores are higher, and definitely work on improving those grades for the mid-year report.
