Georgia Tech?

I'm guessing my chances are in the 70% range, what do you guys think?

Competitive Private School
GA resident
Rank: 1st or 2nd i dont care and GT doesn't either
SAT: 2230
GPA: 4.0
6+ AP classes, 4s and 5s

I assume my app essay was good

I'm fairly involved with school...

Eagle scout
Math Team
Science Club
Programmed several websites for a couple of clubs at my school.

GT is my dream school. I just sent in my app. Do you guys think I'll get in?

Higher than 70%, you probably could have had a good shot at MIT, let alone GT

Also, I’m 15 applying for early admission. (I’m a junior right now)
Does anyone know if this changes the admissions process?
Does it make it harder?

I’m not interested in whether or not this is a good idea…

In. I had worse stats and got accepted EA.

Woah, did you apply for your senior year, that kind of EA?

Or as in December decision?

Senior now. Applied in October. Got accepted.

Regardless, you shouldn’t have a problem getting accepted.

Oh ok,
Thanks,

Are you planning on going to Tech?

Not if I can help it. It’s a great school; don’t get me wrong, but it’s only 45 minutes from home. I know too many people there, and I really don’t care to be an engineer at this point.

Yeah, I guess not wanting to be an engineer would take care of GT

wow…there should be no reason for u to even ask this question bc ur definitely a lock for ga tech. hey, those grades could get u into schools that are better than tech!!!

btw, im also applying to ga tech(as well as uga) so could u tell me what my chances might be bc im kinda down right now from some of the posts ive been getting.

On normal admission (i.e. as a HS senior), you’d be in early and would get a PSP (scholarship) interview invite.

The early admission program is a little different (and, yes, if you’re not a HS senior, it changes the admissions process). They’re more selective and look for signs of maturity in the EC’s. The Eagle Scout certainly helps, and if you have any community service, elected positions, or leadership positions in clubs (e.g. president of a club or two), those are things I would highlight.

I can’t really give a percentage since I’ve only known two people who have gotten in at age 16, so I can’t give a chance, but I think it’s very good. Look at it from Tech’s perspective: your SAT score can’t go down, and your cumulative GPA realistically can’t drop lower than 3.7 in one semester, so you’re going to be admitted next year regardless. Why not just admit now?

That makes sense Burdell. Thank you for the input.

and I have some leadership positions I forgot to include

Like VP of class body
and Student council rep

I wouldn’t forget those on the app :)

Given that new info, I think you’re fine.
