Georgia Tech?

I hear March 15 and I'm reaally nervous.
I got accepted to Auburn, Ohio State, UGA and University of Kentucky. Just waiting on this one.

Applying for mechanical engineering
Top 12(ish?)% of my class
GPA: 3.8 unweighted
ACT: 26
SAT: 1600/2400
I know, my standardized test scores are always awful...
I'd say my essays were pretty good on the application.

I live in Ohio right now, but this summer my parents are moving to Georgia (why I applied here partially).
In AP biology and art history
I was in National Honor Society (junior and senior year), marching band all 4 years (3 instruments, first chair 2 years, section leader for marching band 2 years), Pep band 4 years, ski club 4 years, muse machine 4 years, Vice president of leo club this year, treasurer last year, other community service groups too.

I'm female too? haha does that help?
So, how bad does it look?

What’s the breakdown on those test scores?

SAT:
Math 550
English 540
Writing 510
ACT:
English 30
The rest 24’s
Second time I took it I got a 25 on math though. (I took in 3 times - 26 every time x_x)

Well, SAT scores could be higher, same with the ACT. It actually helps that you’re out of state, and you extra curricular activities will help too. I think you stand a shot.

ha, yeah standardized tests have always been my downfall.
I sent in a letter of recommendation with my app., too. Hopefully that helps.

Thank you! :D

Like koliv said GPA and ECs look good, and the fact that your a female going for engineering always helps. If you can boost your SAT/ACT up you are definately in I believe, but at the moment its an average shot.

Chance back please http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/873902-chances-few-schools.html</a></p>

Not to be a debbie downer, but you are probably not gonna get in with a 1600. To stand a decent shot for Tech, you gotta have a 1900+. Your GPA is really good though and your Ec’s are pretty good too, so who knows…

yeah, I’m sorta on the fence, I guess. Dang sat/act. That’s why I’m getting so freaked out about this. I really want to go here. We’ll see though.
I have backups though, of course.

It doesn’t. Tech does not differentiate between in-state and out-of-state for application purposes.

I would be very surprised if you get in. Tech takes the better of the SAT/ACT, which is your ACT. Tech weighs the Math ACT much heavier than the others, and a 24/25 just isn’t enough for admission. Admitted students usually have a 30 to 32 Math ACT score.

You might get a GTS/AASU offer, though. See here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgia-institute-technology/671218-what-does-gts-aasu-mean.html</a></p>

Well as an update - I was wait-listed
I’m okay with it (with my test scores), too. I have other schools I’m completely happy with.
There’s still a chance for me though
Even though I’m now leaning towards other schools :P
