German or French?

I am decent in Spanish. I want to learn a new language. Which would be the easiest to learn: german or french? Which is more useful?

Well since u already know Spanish it would b easier to learn French since they are both Romantic languages and have a lot in common.

I would say French.

I speak spanish and a decent amount of german. I'd say go with german. I sucked at French in school...lol ( thats not a very valid reason, but hey, if you learn german you'll speak the most manly-metal language haha)

i took spanish in high school and then took french. for some reason, it was difficult for spanish to stick in my memory, but for french, i advanced extremely fast. i guess the i couldn't progress in spanish because it was my first romance, but the second romance language just flowed in. i bet italian (which is more similar to french) will be even more easier.

German is very similar to English, but Spanish is very similar French. I have a Mexican friend who can pick a lot of meaning out of a French conversation. I thought it was pretty amazing.

German! It's a very fun and easy language to learn. The Germans are great people and you'd have a lot of fun going to Germany. Most German teachers are exciting and off-beat, and with a smaller program, it'll feel more like a family. German is THE BEST business language, and because of their long paid vacations, you're more likely to encounter a German walking down the street than a Frenchman.

Here's a good overview:

More people speak German in the world so I would choose German. Why not learn Chinese?

I think that from your background in Spanish, French should easier (I'm not saying easy), although, Spanish and French pronunciation are very different.

French would be more useful since is a more international language than German, but I'm sure German would be pretty damn useful.

Why not both?

If you want easier, switching between the Romance languages is definitely easier. I took French in high school, and then I'm taking Italian in college. Not only are there a lot of similarities in vocabulary, but also sentence structure and grammar are almost exactly the same. And now that I know a decent amount of both languages, I can do a pretty good job of reading Spanish even though I haven't taken any of it.

French and Spanish are very similar....go with French!!

French and Spanish are similar, but German and English are also similar. I took German and had no problem picking it up (and ended up getting my school's German award, even though of the 8 of us in my AP German class, I was one of two who hadn't taken it before high school, and the other was Dutch)
