German.

Yeah, quadratic formula is for n00bz. I'm going to sing about Riemann-Stieltjes Integration.

Any answers to the original post?

yeah, I'm in German, and I love it. It is very easy: the gramatical structure is almost identical to English. Spelling makes more sense too. I don't know about practical application, but I imagine it is about the same as any other foreign language, at least.

Yes, I would learn German again.

Also, german bands: I like "Tokio Hotel" "Ich und Ich" and "Wir sind Helden" among others (they are nothing like Rammstein, though. Sorry.)

I am in German. I is so easy that I can crap my pants. I also hate it. I want to take Chinese in college, cause that is the language to learn.

Wir Sind Helden is too girly for my tastes. Wouldn't call it rock :)

I'm all arrowed for german..I wish I could take it at school, but it's not offered...I love the throaty sounds and I wish I could speak it!!

lol...but I know quite a bit...allow me to show you my deep, intensive knowledge of german....prepare yourselves...

Guten Tag!! :)

I took two years of German (there was no more offered in my county). The first year was fantastic: I loved German, disliked every other language I tried, and it seemed to make so much sense to me. Many others had difficulty with it though.

My second year, the new teacher was awful, and I had a hard time learning. All in all, though, I would highly recommend German. I forget the term for "words in German that sound like English words", but there is one, and German has a lot of them!

cognates... and yes, it does (which always makes me laugh)

4 years of german, definitely not easy. If you want to be fluent you have to spend a ton of time listening to people speak it so that genders of words and cases of articles come naturally. I suppose it's not that hard to get by, but if you want to be good there are a lot of rules to cover. The nice things about the language are that it is phonetic, so things are generally easy to spell, even if they are 143143153 letters long, and that there are rules for grammar that are generally followed (more so than other languages I understand).

Fussballweltmeisterschaftsqualifikationsspiel = Soccer World Championship Qualification Game. :)

On the topic of music, I like die tote Hose for rock (yes, that translates to "the dead pants") and the Wise Guys because they have very cool and funny a cappella.

Agreed :) (Die Toten Hosen and the Wise Guys)

oh yeah! die toten Hosen are good too...

forax: I agree that learning a language fluently is hard, but I think German is more intuitive to a native English speaker than, say Spanish. (then again, I know absolutely no Spanish)

Im taking german, and I'd say it is about 5 times easier than spanish at my school. I have a 97% and since english is a german-based language, there are tons of similarities.
