Get a B?

Does getting a B first semester of senior year hurt on the mid-year report? Cause it sure looks like I will (in Photography of all classes), but I'm also involved in a crapload of stuff (job (20 hours/week), internship, etc.). I feel that extracurriculars>>>>grades (maybe not in college admissions, but personally), so should I also send in a short letter explaining that I just did what was more important to me? I think I read somewhere that keeping up your grades is the single most important thing if you were deferred in order to be taken seriously regular action, so now I'm kind of worried...

Anyway, if anyone (especially xjayz, Admiral, etc.) knows anything, I'd really appreciate your advice. Thanks :)

Well, Photography is an elective, and I think that a lot of colleges disregard electives when they look at your GPA. I'm not sure about this, though.

And also, I don't think it will matter much unless you want to actively pursue photography in college. Good luck!!

One B shouldn't hurt at all...

i doubt it's true that college "disregard electives," but getting a B in photo has to be better than getting a B in English or Math.

You Try Your Best And Move On

So let's say that you're a good student, and you fail Gym and that lowers your GPA. Do you really think Colleges will actually care about that mark in gym?

When I said 'Electives,' I was too general. Obviously, I don't mean all electives. I was just referring to Art, Music or Gym classes. If you want to be an arts major, your art mark will definitely count. Also, if you don't intend on pursuing art in college, getting an good mark in an art class will just be a positive thing when you apply, just the same as getting a bad mark won't really affect you.

don't worry about it....i got a b in calc (ab not bc) and it didn't hurt me. i got in early.

Thanks for all the responses :)
