Get a BBA and a Master's in Finance later on???

I was initially interested in majoring in Finance and pursuing an MBA after. But my mom says it would make more sense to major in Business Administration and later go for a Master's degree in Finance. In essence I'd be learning the broad, general basics of business before diving into a specialty.

I'm asking because I wonder where companies looking to hire students would stand on this.

You should get/follow what YOU want, not what your mother wants (or thinks).
That being said, I’m not a business major, so perhaps others can weigh in.

I’m not doing what my mom wants. I like business. It’s a fun field that i would like to pursue. I’m merely asking for advise on whether it would be a smart idea to get a BBA first and then a Master’s in Finance as opposed to the other way around. If you can’t answer the question, then don’t post a reply.

There is no “answer.” We can only offer opinions.

It’s always good to specialize. So whichever specializes more, in undergrad and Masters, I’d do. Undergrad will be broad no matter what.

Worry about your Masters when the time comes, doesn’t matter now.
