Just got a phone call from UCSD, looks like I'm in :D Just waiting on the official paperwork to come in.

Did anyone else get in, and if you did, are you planning on attending?

Did anyone else get in, and if you did, are you planning on attending?

are you able to view this information online? or you only know through the phonecall?

Phone calls are not reliable sources… ?? Unless you have full access to tritonlink, that is.

I’ve only heard of UCSD calling you to inform you of acceptance for their graduate programs, yo.

It’s a new thing this year to call people to tell them they got accepted.

so sketch.

Right, I must have just had a dream where an admissions rep from UCSD called me and confirmed my acceptance. Silly me.

Relax, everyone. It isn’t “sketch”, colleges everywhere have been doing it for ages. Obviously, UCSD has just started the process.

I got the call about an hour ago and it definitely sounded legit and came from an area code in SD.

I probably won’t go if I get in to UCLA, Cal, or Stanford, but it’s great to know I have this as a back up now.

^ It’s definitely legit, I called the admissions office asking if they were accepting people by phone this year, and they said that they were accepting some people by phone.

By the sounds of it, not everyone will get a phone call, and just because you didn’t get a call doesn’t mean you didn’t get in. I bet they’re only calling people that applied to/got accepted to other UCs. Just a guess.

got a call two hours ago =). and YES I’m IN!!! squeals

How do they determine who gets a phone call?

if you get in durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lotusP

wow…

There is no way they will call everyone who gets accepted, whatwednesday. I meant if calls were determined by stats or geographic location.

All campus phone numbers come from area code 858, and start with either 534-XXXX or 822-XXXX but I wouldn’t even trust that – any campus phone will have those prefixes.

Better wait for the written version. And sometimes even that isn’t real, either: [UC San Diego sends wrong e-mail to rejected students | L.A. NOW | Los Angeles Times](<a href=“Archive blogs”>Archive blogs)

@LotusP: I was skeptical too that they would call ALL admitted freshmen. I mean, that’s a lot of calls! But I was told that they are in fact trying to call ALL admits (students/volunteers are calling). Now whether they’re successful or not might be another story.

But the website should be updated soon enough, so we’ll all be in the know.

Are we allowed to call UCSD and see if they called us earlier or not?

^ I doubt it. Apparently my mom says someone called around 8 last night for me. My super old house phone doesn’t have caller id and the answer machine only sporadically works. Someone left a message but the answer machine didn’t save it. I REALLY WANNA KNOW MY DECISION NOW. :(

Maybe the personal calls are UCSD’s attempt to make amends for last year’s flawed "admitted’ email…

Yep, S just got a call. Yay!
