all you have to do
is
know how to do all of these problems
and you can get an 800 in math, easy (granted you don't put down wrong answers on purpose!!)

i doubt this would work, seeing as how these problems don’t resemble SAT math questions at all.

It’s like studying your Calculus notes in preparation for a Geometry test.

lol
but if you know how to do all of them
SAT math is like pshh easy peasy cake

I agree with this strategy 100%. But if you can get those right, don’t waste time studying for the SAT, put it towards making IMO! Or just doing well on USAMO. Either way AIME>SAT.

im such a genius

^I’ve seen a guy qualify for USAMO (yes, it was USAMO) who got a 690 on the Math SAT on one of the Chance me threads…

But yeah, I guess if one has the mathematical brain enough (which not many of us have, including myself) to solve AIME/USAMO problems, the SAT Math should be a piece of delicious cake… -_-.

Hey Narcissa, you’re obviously very talented and smart. But did you truly do all of those problems? Many of those problems extremely hard and don’t really resemble SAT probelms.

lolll.
i was kinda joking/being sarcastic, u know.
no, i have not done any of those problems and probably never will be able to.
and @win: whoaaa HOW!?

exactly.. you haven’t even done them so how do you know if they are anything like SAT

…
becuase if you could do them all you can get an 800, no prob.

if.

and since there’s probably 2 people in the world who could, well, and they all got 800’s, i’d say this works 100% of the time!!

good enough mathematically =)

Narcissa, I was also so surprised, that I am suspecting that the poster was lying (but he didn’t seem to lie). Most people who replied to that USAMO-SAT Math-690-kid said they smelled something fishy about his list of accomplishments/ECs.

^
This was a few months ago, before I even made this account

^it does sound fishy, but i don’t get why he would have to lie =/
oh well

As a Math 800-pointer and USAMO qualifier, I think I have some authority when I say this: those questions are nothing like the ones on the test! They’re way too hard!!!

Anyone can solve them, given enough time and adequate training, but it simply does not reflect the standards of the (much easier) SAT test. I racked my brains just trying to comprehend what the questions were going on about!

I dont think this would work because these questions are completly different.

The calc geniuses I know sometimes struggle with the last 50 pts on the SAT M because the SAT M is all about being careful and not making sloppy mistakes.

You don’t have to be a math genius to get an 800; you just have to be clever, fast and careful.

^^^^^Exactly.SAT math is all about being EXTREMELY careful. All of you guys here on CC have the potential to get 800 on math.Just concentrate on each question and answer what is ASKED.

One a side note I don’t believe SAT math a very good measure of mathematical intelligence. It is so UNRELIABLE.Don’t you agree?

^I agree. The problems aren’t very hard at all, but they do require you to be careful. For example if you have a circle inside another circle, pay attention to which area they ask you for, the one of the little circle or the big circle minus the little circle. It’s little mistakes like that that will keep people from getting to the next level.

Though it should be noted that the theory of this thread is 1 for 1 at my school lol

Ya I always end up missing points because it will say something like find x^2 instead of just x, that last step.
