In my AP US History class, one-quarter of students are getting an A. This may not sound bad. But in the past two years, over 60% of students in my school got a 5 in AP US History exams. Yet there were less than one-quarter of students got an A in both semesters.

Getting an A in the class requires averaging over 90%. Our tests (MC and FRQ) are all in AP exam level, and my teacher does not curve.

What is the standard to get an A in your school?

when i took apush my sophomore year (i'm a senior now), we had like 20% of people get 5's. a ton of people had A's in the class, because our daily homework assignments consisted of a tonnnn of points, and also there were a ton of opportunities for extra credit.

Heh, I haven't taken the USH AP test yet, but if the stats from last year say anything, no one will do well.

AP World History teacher literally let people sleep in class, easy multiple choice tests, 1 page "essays" (...chapter summaries). TWO people out of the class of 900 (TWO!!) even passed, myself and some guy. And even then we only passed with 3s, and I know in my case it was only because I watch the news and read books and such...no thanks to him. He's being fired this year for his repeatedly abysmal results.

99% of the class had A's. Easy class, zero learning.

0% got 4 or 5's in the 90 who took my teacher's class last year, and about 20% got 3's...realize that I go to a "competitive" hs (prescreened to get in) and there are lots of grade restrictions to get into APUSH-so it's only the best history students...

...she even bragged to us that one of her students got a 1 last year. OW!

In our class a lil over half get 5's, and a lil under half get As. Sounds fair to me!

I think As should correlate with mostly 5s, some 4s,
Bs should correlate to mostly 4s, some 3s,
Cs should correlate to mostly 3s, some 2s,
Ds and Fs to students that are at 2 or 1 level.

i had a B+ first semester and a B second semester for APUSH, and i got a 5 on the test. very few people in our class actually took the test, and the average grade of the ones that did was probably a 2 or 3.

um, last year for APEC only 3 people (including me ) got 5's even though everbody else got A's. this year for USHeverybody has B's and there are a few A's (i have one so i'm hoping to get a 5 on the test this year but who knows).

Everybody had an A in my class (about 25-30) but only I got a 5. A few others passed while the rest got 1's. The other history class had two additional 5's and a lot more passers just because the teacher there actually taught and the students actually listened. In my class we just ate Chick-Fil-A breakfast every day and chatted or slept or caught up on other homework.

I got on average a B+ (although throughout the year I was mainly getting B+s) in APUSH while everyone else had As. My teacher said that my work was at the C level range and she predicted that I would get a 2. I got one of the few 5s in my class.

It was like, impossible to get an A in my APUSH class. A bunch of us (like 10? out of 32) had A-'s, but the class average was like a B/B-. However, everyone got either a 5 or a 4, so I don't think the class grade is an accurate predictor of your score...

about 30% of the people my class had A's. Three people had A+'s. Most of the rest had B+'s and B's, there were maybe 2 C's. Everyone passed, I think 30% got 5s (the people that got A's)and 60% got 4s and there were a few 3's. Our teacher was amazing though.
