this is weird- my smart friend who graduated high school 2 years early got into MIT, CalTech, UCLA, waitlisted at Chicago and CAL. He also got rejected- obviously from Harvard. AND UCR!!!
How is this possible- he is super good at math- ISEF and stuff.
Probably a paperwork mess-up. I’m guessing he could have gotten in on appeal if he wasn’t happy with his acceptances lol.
well he got into other UCs tho so does it matter
Probably rejected him to protect yield. They knew UCR was a safety.
UCR probably isn’t protecting yield as much as giving another applicant who probably wants to attend UCR a chance at acceptance. There is a difference.
http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=910 indicates that UCR does not use level of applicant’s interest.
They should know that an “overqualified” admit has a lower yield chance, so each “overqualified” admit yields something like 0.05 student, while each “reaching” admit yields something like 0.3 student.
Probably a data entry or similar error.
isnt there a thing called Tufts Syndrome?
