Get into UCLA

Hi I'm an Out of State sophomore & i would love to get into UCLA. I have a 3.6 GPA (I did really bad the first semester of my freshman year so I know I can raise it up to at least a 3.75). APs: 1 freshman year (passed with a 5) & taking 3 this year. I will be starting the IB program next year. I make short films on my free time. I am part of student government & a church group at my school. I also volunteer every sunday at an animal rescue center. Do you think I have a chance? What else can I do to help me get in?(p.s. my school doesnt have sports so thats kind of out the door). Thanks ;)

To increase your chances, you can continue to improve your GPA, do well on your SAT, and find $220,000 because that is what it will cost you to go there. UCs will not give OOS students any FA.

Thanks! I just wish the price wasnt so high :frowning:

Either you have the dollars or you don’t. If you don’t, find another dream school.

You have limited options. Unless your parents have a substantial amount of money, or [url=<a href=“http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/14-year-old-math-and-chess-prodigy-248334]are”>http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/14-year-old-math-and-chess-prodigy-248334]are willing to move to California/url you’re likely out of options.

you seem to know a lot about UCLA so would you mind answering a question? I am a freshman from Illinois and have been dreaming about going to UCLA since 6th grade… i know i have three years but for right now do you think i have a chance of getting in? i have a GPA of 4.3 weighted and a 3.6 unweighted. i am ranked 33 weighted which means im in the top 3% and unweighted im ranked 82 (out of 901) which is top 9%. i am in student government and in track and volunteer at a counseling center once a week. Do you think i have any chance of getting in at this rate? also i am a Caucasian female who has no financial issues at all and im going into the nursing program.
