I am wondering how I can get my biggest refund from college. I am awaiting to be accepted into the nursing program but until that starts, I am working on my minor degree in business. I have a large loan I need to pay off and I recently (3 months ago) had a baby so of course extra money would help right now. Any suggestions? I am looking on if someone Jack’s how many credits I would have to take and how I can tell what my refund could be. How can I tell?
Your Pell Grant amount is determined by your FAFSA EFC. In addition, your status (full or part time) is considered.
Any Pell money you have will FIRST be used by the colleges to pay billable costs. If there is money left after the school is paid, you are refunded the amount…per term.
There is no way to get “more” money back…unless you somehow won a scholarship from the college that covers all of their billable costs.
The maximum Pell is $6000 a year…$3000 a semester for full time students. If you are going Part time…the amounts are LESS.
So…what is the cost of attendance at your college? Do you have any other grant aid to cover any of that?
Thank you for your respond. I will have to look into that because the classes are different cost. I only got a pell grant.
Well…you need to know how much your tuition and fees cost. I’m assuming you are not living on campus.
Also, will you be going full time? Please remember…that $3000 per semester Pell amount is only if you are attending full time. If part time, it is reduced.
If the school costs more than $3000 a semester, you won’t receive a refund at all…if attending full time.
