Get outta dodge (Michigan)

Hey everybody. I currently attend Central Michigan University as a sophomore. I have always disliked Michigan and I must get out! I think I would enjoy Ann Arbor, but I just don't have the grades for U of M and I doubt I ever will. I'm looking for a place with lots to do and nice weather. I'm not necessarily looking for 90* weather every day, just none of this fake winter we get in Michigan. I plan to major in some form of environmental science. Does anybody have recommendations of places to consider? I will be traveling this summer to check out possible schools. As of now, I will attend a community college until I establish residency, or get close, to save money and get my grades up.

Grades: ACT 27 comp and 11 writing
3.0 weighted/unweighted from high school
cumulative 2.2 @ CMU (Freshman year I had major medical problems and I was assured most schools would keep that in mind, if not completely disregard the whole year in which case I would have a 3.0)

Hobbies: Snowboarding, skateboarding, CARS, anything outdoors.

The places I'm already going to be visiting are as follows:

-U of C @ Boulder
-A few schools in Southern Cali
??????

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Just so you know, establishing California residency for in-state tuition at Califonia public schools (community colleges, CSUs, and UCs) isn’t easy.

[California Postsecondary Education Commission – Residency Requirements](http://www.cpec.ca.gov/CollegeGuide/Residency.asp)

Perhaps a community college in the Palm Springs, CA area? It won’t be 90 degrees everyday in the winter, but I guarantee you it will be well over a hundred in the summer!

Bump bump bump

Just for clarification, I am NOT against winter. I just do not want the gray-sky bull **** winter we get here in michigan. I LOVE Colorado winters.

Colorado State in Fort Collins would be a good option. If you were to do California, I’d recommend a community college with an eventual transfer to Cal State of U of CA.

But do check out the financial ramifications. OOS tuition can be a burden.
