I am in grade 9, a Singaporean. I aim for a SSAT Score over 90%. Can you guys please advice me how much questions ( wrong-ommitted) per section should I perform in order to get such percentile.

I am in grade 9th. Math is not a big problem, I can finish both 2 sections without any mistakes, sometimes, I miss 1-3 questions due to the time limitation. However, the Reading and Verbal are really a trouble. Overall, I just need to ask about the strategy to take the test and get over 90%.

Thanks!

To get 90 pctl for verbal and reading, you need to get 42 and 34 raw scores. Keep in mind that raw scores represent # of correct answers deducted by a quarter point for each wrong answer.

I had made this conversion chart last year, using a table available in the official guide book. I don’t think conversion formula has changed much since, so I uploaded to a website where you can look up for yourself.

(Change dot to . and slash to / for the above link to work.)

Hopefully this help you better understand how it works, and good luck with your test!

I would get your hands on a test prep book.

While I think English is one of the official languages of Singapore, if it is not what you speak at home, I would think that Boarding Schools would be understanding of that and look for a TOEFL score vs. your scores on the Reading/Verbal sections.

Possible… as percentiles are calculated within grade and sex, and the chart is meant to provide rough estimates. That said, my child is 9th grade too, and the differences between the estimates from this chart and the actual scores (Oct test) for verbal, math, and reading were +0.5, -1.0, and +1.5.

I guess SSATB has administrated enough number of tests for so many years and can provide quite reliable estimates.
