getting 800 on SAT math?

Currently stuck around 730-760. What are the best resources to help improve to an 800?

Private tutor or khan academy

Practice tests and problems. There are a lot of books with sample problems. Do as many problems as you can.

How many times have you already taken the SAT?

If you have already taken the SAT three times, give it up and focus on taking the SAT Subject tests in Math instead, unless you have time for an intensive multi-week SAT math prep course. I would also ask, what is your score on the Verbal portion? Maybe your time is better spent prepping for that half of the test anyway. There is no magic in a perfect 800 for admissions versus a 750-780, esp relative to all the other parts of your college application.

Prep classes if they are honest will generally tell you that their mission for the kids who are at 1300-1400 is to get you to 750 math or 1500 total. Anything beyond that is up to you. So I wouldn’t waste any money on prep classes.

Read prep scholar’s blog posts about getting 800s on the SAT sections. Make sure you’re proficient at all the topics covered (use Khan Academy). Practice the math section on paper (including bubbling and checking answers in the time provided). Extensivly review every answer you get wrong or are unsure about during practice even if it was a “dumb mistake”

Practice Tests.

I use a prep book and a private tutor. I’m getting close to a 800 (last score was 780) and it’s certainly achievable. Much easier than getting an 800 on the EBRW section. Do hundreds of problems that resemble problems on the test. Repetition is annoying but it will be your best friend. You will be faster and more accurate. Good luck.
