I'm taking the SAT on the Dec 5th test date. My math is good and I usually make between 0 to 3 mistakes total on the SAT math sections. I find however that I make most of my mistakes by missing a detail in the question; for example, I would maybe miss the "additional" in "what would be the ADDITIONAL cost" and thus make a mistake. I also find that I'm not a 100% on the prime numbers / factors questions. Is there any book you guys recommend me to get in order to ace the math sections?

My advice in two words: slow down.
Do not try to finish section in a two-path fashion in which you finish the sections under-time and check to see errors. You should painstakingly read the questions carefully and leave ~1 minute after finishing each section + bubbling in answers.

I agree with Sakata. I’m one of those quick but careless math ppl like you, and usually I never catch my mistakes, even when I go back and check the answers.

Well that’s kind of the point in math - avoiding silly mistakes. :-P

So yeah work carefully and quickly, checking each question before you go on and once at the end (try doing this on some practice tests first, though!). Best of luck - I myself have gotten 760 and 780 on my math so far, but I’m sure with some more practice and composure I can get 800, and so can you!

What always got me was questions that ask for the integer. I always gave like 3.5 until I noticed that when I did my practice test. After I fixed that, I got an easy 800.

Agreed, online solutions are good at eliminating mistakes, especially ones focused on practicing, as opposed to video learning. Plus something like what Mathwhiz just mentioned will help you focus on what kind of problems you tend to make your mistakes on. Maybe its only on the really difficult questions, or the geometry questions… courses, tutors and books can’t really do that to the same success.

story of my life.
seriously, I know how to do all the math questions and finish like 15 minutes early, but I ALWAYS end up misreading something and getting it wrong :(

Lol what i do is i erase everything and redo the problem. however, i’d only recommend you try this if you are fast at math like me (but careless), ex. i can do most math sections in about 10 minutes

that helps me catch all my errors, which usually number around 3-4 each test lol
