Hello! I plan to apply to Prep Schools. I had a 4.0 and A’s in all of my classes. This semester, I got a B in Technology and Career Prep. Will this ruin my chances?
No.
It certainly makes it harder, given many other applicants maintain all As. You just need to make other parts of your application stronger.
It does not make it harder
No.
Don’t sweat it.
It doesn’t matter. I had a B on my 9th grade transcript and a B on my 8th grade one. Regardless, this past application cycle went very well for me.
I had a few(few but still there) B+s and 1 B. still had many acceptances, and waitlists from top schools.
Makes no difference at all. It is perfectly normal to have the odd course here or there where that occurs. Actually, it lends more credibility to the A’s that you earned.
It certainly isn’t a complete setback! I actually had a C in my chemistry class (and two B’s) my first marking period this year, but I got into one of my top choices in March (one of the TSAO schools).
I definitely think my extracurriculars helped. Good luck with your application process; wishing you nothing but the best!
It definitely won’t ruin your chances- a B isn’t a “bad” grade by a long shot, so don’t sweat it, just put it behind you and keep working on your application! You’ll be alright.
No - it will not ruin your chances.
Get used to it because it probably will not be your last “B” if you do end up at some of the schools we know
A poem for you!
Before I started boarding school
I never got a B.
It was always easy to earn an “A”
I am clever, don’t you see?
I arrived at my school - confident.
Placing into top level classes
After just a week
My peers and I soon learned
We were jackasses.
You see, there are students from around the world
Much smarter than you think
They show up to class already knowing Calc
Your confidence might sink.
There are some schools where the grades are easy
Others were grading is tougher.
Chances are if your at a HADES
The grading will be rougher!
None so tough as the one with a door
That school’s mean is 89
The stress is brutal on the students
But no, that mean’s not mine.
You work real hard to learn the way
Get to know who teaches
By Sophomore year you’ll learn enough
So, A’s are within your reaches
Learn how to write a DBQ
Learn how to study smarter
Work with purpose and time manage
Those A’s will not be harder.
