Getting A Bad Grade In Class Before Major

Here is my situation:

In Econ, after the midterm every student received a mid semester grade to see where we are in the class. I got mine and it was 56%, an 'F'. I was surprised and shocked so I went to the professor after class and asked him why. He showed me the assignments that were missing and it was almost half of them. I told him it was a mistake and that I had all turned in all the assignments, got them back with full credit, and had them at home. He told me to bring them next class and I did. I showed him almost 10 papers that all had full credit and he collected them and apologized for the mix-up. He later returned the papers to me the following week and told it was all fixed and that I no longer had an 'F' in the class. This all happened in early April. Now that finals just ended, I was expecting a low 'B' or a high 'C', but was shocked again that I saw a 'D'. I emailed the professor right away again asking why i got a 'D' and he said that I was missing half of my assignments, the same ones that I had re-turned in again after the first mix-up. I told him that they were the ones I turned in and he collected, but he said he doesn't recall that ever happening. And with me thinking that he fixed the grades after he told me he did, I tossed everything away believing in him that it was all graded and recorded. What I am really concerned about now is that he won't budge on changing my grade, because he has no recollection of our conversation ever happening, and even hinted that I was lying. I am really concerned, and even scared, because I am nervous that UC Santa Cruz, the college I have been accepted and am planning to transfer to will rescind my admission due to the one 'D' I got on my transcript. I have never gotten a 'D' in a class in my entire life and my GPA is still at a high 3.6 as it is mostly 'A's' and 'B's'. I am not sure what to do now at this moment as My biggest fear has happened as UCSC withdrew my acceptance due to their conditions of having at least a 'C' in my classes. Can anyone please give me some advice what to do as I am starting to panic. I don't want to spend another whole entire year at my community college with all my credits and requirements already completed, all because one professor can't remember that I turned in my assignments, twice! Any help is appreciated and thanks for reading.

That’s a really douch-ey thing to do…=/

You really should’ve kept those assignments though. Threaten to complain to his higher-ups. See if that jogs his memory.

Wow this breaks my heart. I’m terribly sorry about your situation, and I hope everything works out your way.

are you even serious? thats so ■■ up. I can’t believe what am i reading.

Most colleges have something called “grade grievance” or something. You just need proof that you talked to him about changing your grade, etc and it should be resolved. I had a similar situation with an Econ professor too and I was able to get my C to a B because he didn’t want to deal with the Dean and junk.

I really doubt that UCSC or officials at your CCC are going to find your story credible. Throwing away the assignments, in mid-semester, after you thought that the problem with recording your grades had been resolved does not make sense. I know that when I was a college student I was careful to keep all assignments graded and returned by the professor for the entire semester since I knew there was going to be a comprehensive final exam. Going over all assignments to see where I had made mistakes was a valuable part of my preparation for the final exam.

Often I kept graded assignments even after receiving my final grade for the course since I found they were sometimes useful aids for future courses in the same subject. I frequently find boxes in my house that contain graded assignments from courses I took many years ago when I was a college student.
