Hello everyone, I am a senior in high school currently passing all of my classes with a C or better except for AP Biology, in which I have a D (65%). My first semester ends on December 21. My counselor said I don't even need the credits to graduate from that class because I am already on track for graduation. In regards to the A-G requirements, I have already taken a physical and biological science (regular biology sophomore year and chemistry junior year), so I am wondering if getting a D or an F in AP Biology would prevent me from being accepted to CSUs and UCs. I have applied to Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Long Beach, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, San Jose State, San Diego State, UCLA, UCSD, Embry-Riddle Prescott, and I am in the process of finishing an application to USC.

Is your counselor suggesting that you drop the class before the end of the semester?

She had already given me that option earlier in the semester, but my dad wouldn’t sign the form to drop it. So now I have to stay in the class.

A D or F wont kill your chances immediately, especially for the CSUs. What is your overall GPA?

As a condition of admission the UC schools say you can get no grade below a C your senior year. So this is an issue. They also say on their admission websites that you must notify them immediately if you get a grade below a C or change your classes from what you listed. So you’ll have to do that. All hope is not lost, though. Meet with your counselor and have them help you contact the UCs to see what you might be able to work out. The WORST thing would be to do nothing and have them find out when they see your transcripts next summer, at which point you may be rescinded,

My current GPA is 2.83 for senior year so far. On an unofficial transcript I have it says that my 9-12 GPA is 3.2778, my weighted GPA is 3.4445, and my UC/CSU 10-12 GPA is 3.3000.
