Getting a D in Calculus BC?

What would happen to my admission chances to the Universtiy of Florida if my second semester grade in Calc BC were to be a D? My GPA from junior year was like a 4.1, with a 1300 SAT, 32 ACT, so I had pretty good chances of getting in. But in my senior year, my grades have dropped a little bit, especially with this class....and Florida has become increasingly selective, even denying IB students like myself....My essay was amazing, and my extra curriculars were pretty good too...just wondering if this would kill mychances of getting in.

don't get a D

Can you transfer to a non AP/IB Calculus class and then bring the grade up to a B or C?

Because if so, that's far and away the better option.

P.S. If you do this, you then need to let the Univ of Florida know that you changed one of your courses originally on your list (don't mention why--just let them know that you wanted to be real "upfront" with what your situation is versus what courses you said you would be taking).

If you do all of this, you are unlikely to lose your acceptance status with the school.

I wish i could, but there is no way you can. It is the only Calc BC class the school offers, basically with some of the most brightest IB kids at the school in that one class. But what i could do is call the office of admissions and tell them that my high school career has been great untill now and i have found my "hump" and just mention before they see the transcript that I might get a D in the class.....

not good...it will seem desperate...

I don't know anything about U of Florida but Calculus BC is hard, and they know that. Not everyone's a mathematical genius!

Well, ha, that's what I keep telling myself. I too struggle with BC.

Thats what I'm banking on...that and my courseload is pretty hard, so hopefully they can excuse the couple Cs and this D. Florida has become crazy in it's admissions, many IB kids are denied, some even who get into schools like Vanderbilt. SO its waaay more than just grades (hopefully).... And yeah, it is really hard. None of it makes sense to me, possibly because i see it as almost useless and having no true purpose. Infinite series???Seriously??? I don't need to know that.

Try really hard this year! My friend got an F on her first report card for TOK class because she didn't turn in an important paper (um her TOK essay rough draft!!), but now she's getting an A. So far she has been accepted to 5 schools including U of Penn. But then again she did have a 2120 on her SAT, and really good ECs. Just try hard, hey everything happens for a reason!! Fate will left you get in, that and lots of praying!!!!!

wow....i just turned my TOK essay in today...yeah, lots of praying. I just talked to a guidance counselour who said it really didn't matter as long as the final class average was a C
