Getting a D

Do you guys know the policy for getting a D. I have a friend who is in comp sci and he currently has a D in comp sci but has C's in the rest of his college courses. Do you think he still has a chance to make is into UCSC. He said that he has to write a letter to the undergraduate admissions office explaining that D. Do you think he stilll has a chance of getting into UCSC.

He wants to transfer from another university? go here http://stars.ucsc.edu/ and poke around.

i was actually in your friend's shoes. i had a D in my math class my senior year of high school. I was generally a good student and had a 3.8 my first semester. I had to fight it to the bone. I didnt sleep two days because i thought id get my admission recinded. If i were your friend i'd notify them right away and be a smooth talker. Have him send repetitive emails stating his case and have him thoroughly explain why he did not do well in that course. Best of luck... i got through it two years ago... hopefully they havent gotten more strict.
