Getting a job out of an LAC

<p>As an applicant, they won't pay much attention to your abilities in anything other than the job specifics. So yes, you will be at a big disadvantage. However, once you are employed, you may have opportunities to capitalize on your abilities and shine. I agree that internships and part time work in a field are crucial. The job market is pretty structured. A few organizations take in large numbers of new grads. Many do not take in any. Many jobs have firm requirements for certain degrees. Even if they don't, many jobs will be tough to land without a certain, very specific background. You have to study the structure of the job market. In a big company, even if you have related skills, you may not be able to show or use them. You may be better off going to a small, flexible company if you are hoping to work your way into something.</p>
