Hey everyone, quick question...

I just registered for all my courses for the fall (junior transfer), and much like the rest of you, it was hell for about two days lol, since everything it seemed was closed. Well anyway, it looks as if everyone is scheduling a meeting with an advisor, and I was wondering how you do that, and who you have to contact? Also, what goes on at these meetings if you've already completed your schedule?

I live in Northern Virginia, about 4.5 hours away from Chapel Hill so its not that easy for me to just head down whenever I want to do this meeting, so would it be best to schedule it now, or just wait and schedule it for June when I'll be at TSOPS?

Thanks so much, all of you are usually such a big help.

Go heels!

I just went to the UNC advising web site and scheduled an appointment. My meeting will be by phone. I live in Pittsburgh, so there's no way I could go down to UNC. It was really easy to do, and I have an appointment tomorrow. I set the appointment on Monday

You can do them over the phone since you're not in the triangle area. At the advising appts. I've had, we've just gone over what I'm taking, what's left to take, possible minor/mjrs I could add with my bio mjr/chem minor, grades...that sort of thing. At the rate my old advisor went, I'd wait until you were here if you're confident with what you signed up for, if you just want to check on something quick, go ahead and do it on the phone. (my new advisor is much better and knows so much more, so maybe that first one was just a little bit nuts?--the phone probably would be ok, if not you could always go visit them in June, too)

Depending on your major some professors will add you to the class when it's full if you ask nicely/beg and others keep their own waitlist after the school wait list is purges (that's what chem and bio do at least), some of the professors are easier to talk into this than others! :)
