I am 99.9% sure that I am getting a new video ipod for christmas and I had an ipod previous to the new one with 365 songs on it and when I get the new one I will have to install a new itunes software (upgrade), will I have to put all the songs on my ipod again. There are from CD's btw.

u dont have 2 update itunes again

and when u update itunes..ur songs and settings are all still there

You will have to transfer the songs from your library to your ipod.
Your problem isn't NEARLY as bad as mine. Most of my songs are from CDs. I have close to 1,000 songs on my video iPod and I'm getting a new one for X-mas [long story].
So...yeah.
As for the CDs, just open iTunes and then insert the cd and choose to "Import CD". Once those are in the library, you can transfer them to your ipod.

I wish they made better cases for the iPods, the cases right now are expensive and bad quality.

I dont understand all the hype with iPod. There are much better other mp3 players that have more functions at a cheaper price.

I agree with AznN3rd. To name a couple, Creative Zen Vision:M, and though I hadven't looked too much into them, I think the Microsoft's Zune will also be better. Both are cheaper, both are better.

The Zen, which I have :p, has a microphone, a better quality screen, an FM tuner, and you don't have to bother with iTunes. (unless you like iTunes, but personally, I think it's horrible)

I like the Zune. $15 a month for unlimited downloads. Fifteen bucks will get you an album on iTunes, but you can get, say, 1000 songs a night on Zune for one price. I like it, personally. Big screen too.

Ipod and itunes ease of use stomps all over the competition. If your good with computers, give the sansa, creative labs, or whatever suits you as they do have a ton more features and come much cheaper. Seriously, creative and sandisks respective softwares suck. Of course there is always napster, yahoo, windows media, but they still cannot come close to ipod. Plus, the ipod has a ton of accessories made for it, something that the other players cant match. If your not good with computers, stick with the ipod. It's a lot easier to deal with. Thats what I tell people who come in at Ccity to buy one.

I'd say wat puts the ipod above all others is the user interface. Hm i have the ipod 3rd generation, ipod shuffle 2nd generation, and an iriver clix

I have a Zune and it's much better than an Ipod. Wifi, Radio, bigger screen, more customizing options, and for the same price as Ipod Video.

i heard that the zune had a really cool interface, but had lots of problems with installing and the online marketplace. i love itunes, therefore im sticking to my ipod

ive had a zen and an ipod, both were great in their own ways but the program the zen came with sucked compared to itunes

I agree and I have a video ipod. I never use the video feature and I still rarely use it for music. I only use it when I'm on a plane or on my way to school. I got the video ipod because I wanted to watch Lost but then I found out you can watch it for free on their website.

Now I want a Samsung K5.

Guys, there's no such thing as a "Video iPod", It hasn't come out yet, it'll probably be the 6th generation model. The 5th generation model is know as an "iPod with Video Capabilities" since it's made for music.

I love my ipod.
I love the fact that I can watch video podcasts, tv shows, music videos, movies, store photos on it, and it's an awesome MP3 player.

I mean, the Zen does have video capability but it's hard to find videos for it.
Besides, I have no problems saying I am somewhat of an elitist. I felt like my ipod was well worth the $300.00...besides the fact that the ONE time I drop it on the ground...the sound gets messed up.
I plan to spend $250.00 this X-mas for a new one and just be more careful. I take full responsibility for my mistake.

Anyway, iTunes gives me a lot more options for videos, movies, music, video podcasts, etc.

iPod owns!

I'm getting my iPod because I am getting a mac laptop.

Part of the appeal to iPods is that they have nice integration with everything they do. + they are shiny.. and that sells Shrug

Best Wishes,
~Matthew

This is a stupid question on my part, but when is the 6th generation iPod due to be released? Has Apple said anything? My 4th gen. just decided to die on me and now I'm without music and I miss it... :(

Honestly, does anyone really watch movies on the iPod? I mean it wastes so much battery life that the battery dies within 2 hours of a full charge. Also, isn't it a lot easier to watch a movie on a DVD player in front of a 30'' TV than on a tiny screen?

Also, the iPod seems to have a lot of shortcomings. For example, the back scratches easily, shaking it excessively (ie running) causes the hard drive to get messed up, and that iPod is only compatable with iTunes and no other music format.

Ditto. And this is coming from an iPod nano user. Honestly, I wouldn't have gotten a nano if it wasn't free.

How do you load pictures onto a video ipod?
