No Miele included in that list? Call me suspicious.
I love my Dacor oven. It can also operate as a convention oven which is great for making cookies, warming things up for holidays etc. as you can put things on more than one level at the same time.
I have an LG gas stove that I bought from Home Depot. Itās all gas as my husband didnāt want to have an electric (220?) line installed. I wanted a new stove. Iām very happy. Cooks great, Iām not a fancy cook. Has a convection oven.
I have to baby cleaning it as I do my stainless steel refrigerator. My mom and my husband tried to clean the stainless in circles with a scratchy cloth. I practically leap over the stove to snatch the cloth out of their hands!
But itās easy enough to clean. Microfiber cloth, dawn spray. Wipe with the grain
Repair people are also good sources information
Absolutely. Isnāt there a CCer who used to repair appliances? Iāve seen their postings on various appliance threads here.
I donāt know if CR covers really high-end stuff like Miele and Wolf. When I saw their price ranges (pun not intended), I lost my appetite!
I big heart my dual fuel Kenmore Elite. Had it picked out and found a brand new one at a tag sale - score! Though it was still almost $2000 and this was 15 years ago. Not sure if they still make them but itās a 5 burner top and double oven (one large, one smaller). Weāve had no problems with it in 15 years. (Knocking on wood)
We have two friends who have this and also love it. Big foodies also. Their kitchens arenāt Wolf type compatible.
Iāve just started looking at new stoves so this is a timely thread! I downsized and my kitchen isnāt very large so I need a 30". My current stove is gas and I am not a big baker so I will probably stick with that rather than add the electrical for a dual fuel model.
I like the look of the GE Cafe line since you can customize the finish of the body and hardware. It can have 6 burners or 4 burners with a griddle plus there is a double oven option. I need to do more research on the reliability and functionality, but on paper it has the features I want in a small package.
ETA: If you have the space and budget, I really liked our Wolf. My brother/SIL just remodeled their kitchen and went with 48" Hallmann (less expensive version of the Ilve). It is beautiful. They also have lots of fun color options (blue, green, red, etc.)
Iād be cautious about getting the āliteā versions of the high end brands. We looked at the Le Cornu Fe as we loved the look but the oven capacity was tiny and the materials just felt cheap.
We got a 6 burner GE Cafe a couple of years ago. Itās fine. Certainly not like Wolf etc, but it works well for our family. And the price is much lower.
Thank you! That is good to know.
And please make sure about availability! We tried to buy a refrigerator last summer, and it was a nightmare. I donāt know what the situation was/is for stoves, but please check every place, from the small appliance stores to the big box stores to make sure they have a decent supply of whatever model you settle upon.
Good luck!
Yes! Iāve been hearing nightmares of months long waits with all the supply chain issues. Luckily I am in no hurry. This will be an upgrade by choice, not necessity. My current stove works fine, but I donāt really like the model and the prior owners were rough on itā¦ lots of scratches in the stainless. (I hope I havenāt just jinxed myself)
Thank you!
You might want to call around to a number of appliance stores to see which one has the shortest wait time for the stove you select. Iām waiting for an ice maker and a wine cooler (replacing old ones that werenāt worth repairing). The wait is over six months.
I have a new KitchenAid slide in gas range. 30-Inch 5-Burner Gas Slide-In Convection Range Stainless Steel KSGG700ESS | KitchenAid Itās about a year old and I like everything about it except for the fact that it does not have a self cleaning function for the oven. They have what they call AquaLift that uses a steam cleaning approach to cleaning the oven with no odor and a low temperature. I understand that would be a better way to clean an oven except for the fact that it doesnāt actually clean the oven at all. To get the oven clean takes an incredible amount of elbow grease.
When we wanted a new appliance this year, we kept checking inventories at local appliance stores. One morning, they had exactly what we wanted supposedly available. We drove over, and son of a gunā¦it was. We paid and it was delivered three days later.
Soā¦check those inventoriesā¦.you might find that something you like is actually available.
We got this GE gas stove almost three years ago and Iāve been very happy with it. I especially love the center griddle. I didnāt realize how bad a job our old stove did until we got this one. Itās the first time Iāve had a new stove as opposed to whatever came with the house/apartment.
My son and his wife have that oven. Itās very nice and they use the smaller oven most of the time. I think that after looking at them, they went for the monogram level not cafe because they didnāt want to change the knobs and felt that the higher price wasnāt worth it.
I am resurrecting this thread since we are about to embark on a kitchen reno. The Houzz boards make my head spin! Yes, people are still complaining about the chipping Wolf oven.
Another question - does anyone have a 36" range? I was all set for this but then read that that large of an oven takes forever to preheat. (As much as Iād love to do a cooktop and wall oven, I donāt think our space can handle that)
