Getting a second engineering degree

So I will graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering this year. My gpa is kinda low so I was considering studying for another year and getting a degree in industrial engineering. I am hoping that if I get good grades then I will be able to get into the industrial engineering graduate program since they only count the last 90 credit hours towards the degree for the gpa requirement. It would only take a year because I fulfill a lot of the course requirements from my mechanical engineering course work. I just wanted to get people's opinions on whether this is a reasonable idea to pursue. Thanks.

Look at what industrial engineering is before you decide to get into it though.

I have friends that do it, and it’s not really engineering. It’s more closely related to Markets and Pricing…

I think you meant to say: the particular field they chose to pursue within IE is more closely related to markets and pricing…

There are quite a few “real” IE fields in which engineering takes place.
