<p>I'd say that with a single you're better off.
1. You can study in your room until as late as you want
2. You can watch TV, play music/games as loud as you want
3. You'll still socialize with people via classes, clubs, etc
4. Your roommate will probably be more of an acquaintance than a friend.</p>
<p>That said, it is nice to 'know' someone during NSO. I guess I'm a little different since I came into NSO knowing a little under a hundred other prefrosh. ON that note, if you can get into a pre-frosh program do it.</p>
