Getting a Work-Study Job

I will be an incoming freshman this September, and have a few questions about work-study. I received work study in my financial aid package, and I think it would be a good idea to use it starting first semester. The problem is, to find a work study job, I need have a Port Triton account, and to have a Port Triton Account I think I need to at least be enrolled in classes (which hasn't happened yet). Is it possible to work first semester?

Also, I can't quite figure out how to accept the work-study I was offered. Did I miss the deadline? The website makes it so difficult to figure out how to do it -.-

Incoming freshmen as well.

First of all, acceptance for the things in financial package awards are supposed to be sometime in mid-july (including work study). It says that in the “My Application” link under “FINANCES” in “View Your Preliminary Financial Aid and Scholarship Awards”. I’ll just quote what it says: View your preliminary financial aid and scholarship awards. Official awarding begins in mid-July.

Second, you are to receive an email (probably mid-July) if you completed all the required forms and such for the 2012-2013 Award Checklist which is in your Tritonlink in Finance Tools. You have to have the following mandatory tasks done:
2011 Parent IRS Data Retrieval Completed
Student Confirmation of Not Filing a 2011 Federal Income Tax Form
Submitt Dependent Verification Worksheet
If you have, you’ll see the message: “Your financial aid application is currently complete. You will be notified via your UCSD e-mail when you have been awarded” above the mandatory tasks list.

I haven’t received the email yet either but it isn’t mid-July yet. But it doesn’t hurt to check the student email regularly.
