Getting Accepted and Screwing Up Spring Semester?

Hi All,

I want to apply to Berkeley this November. I still need to take Math in the Spring semester. I need to take an assessment test in order to become eligible for the required math class. If I do badly on the assessment test, obviously, I will not have fulfilled all of the UCB requirements.

What happens with UC Berkeley if so. Does this look bad on paper?

Thanks.

Your admission to the university will likely be rescinded if you were supposed to take the math course.

and if my admission were rescinded, would this have a negative affect on my applying the following year?

thanks for your response

Simple answer: No, you won’t have a negative effect when you reapply.

simple answers work for me. Thanks berkeleyphil and congrats on your 420th post.

Usually you can find examples of these assessment tests on line and by taking them and finding out what areas you need to work on before you take the actual test will give you an excellent chance of passing it. I had my older son take practice “Calculus Readiness Tests” from the websites of about 15 different universities around the country for his freshman year “Calculus Readiness Test” at Sacramento State. I am sure that is how he was able to pass the test even though he had not taken Calculus in high school while a significant number of students who did take AP Calculus failed the test and had to start in Pre-calculus.

The math requirement is a must for all UCs. You may get rescinded if you do not complete the math requirement.

Lemaitre1: An excellent idea. I have a practice test for the course, but I never thought to look at other colleges for their practice tests. I will hold a beer high in the air in your name this weekend. Thank you.

JonnyL91: Thx for the confirmation.

why are you doubting yourself?

its BERKELEY. you should be studying day and night then if you think you’re going to “screw up”. you can do this. watch some youtube videos, go to tutoring, get into some study sessions, something to solidify your chances on continuing on.

don’t you want to go forward? do you excel well in math? how long have you been at CC?

UCkitteychen: I appreciate the kick in the pants  You’re right. I have a terrible tendency of exploring my negative outcomes.

I’m good at math but deathly afraid of it and I have been at CC for too long. I want to go to Berkeley more than anything.

I’ll do better, I promise.

*Edited for grammar

see! get out of CC and buckle down and push your limits. you don’t wanna be on here next year while were all at UC. you can do it, just use whatever resources that you know will work to make sure you make it to UC Berkeley, so you can walk around telegraph, stop at Blondie’s and get you that big cheesy slice of pizza.

screwing up shouldn’t even be an option for you. just push yourself. everything will all prevail for you.

Thanks a lot, I mean it. I want my damn Blondie’s pizza!
