Getting accepted as a Area of Interest? (Computer Science)

I was accepted to Stony Brook just last week as a "Area of Interest" for the Computer Science Program in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. I wasn't admitted into the major because I still need to complete Physics and (just recently finished Calculus in my local college) Calculus before they can admit me.

What is worrying me is that as a freshmen, what will I have to do to get into the Comp Sci program? I know I would have to take these classes:
1. CSE 114 Computer Science I
2. CSE 215 Foundations of Computer Science

But what if they don't let me take it? Are there pre-requisites for these classes? I don't want to go to Stony Brook for any other major.

Is getting accepted into the major hard once you do meet requirements?

I would really like some information on nothingto1’s question. Bump.

Good questions, and I apologize for missing them the first time around.

You shouldn’t have any problems taking those courses. "AOI"s, for all intents and purposes, are treated the same way as majors. Declaring the major is easy once you’ve successfully completed those two courses.

Hey! Even I have been accepted to the “AOI Pre-Computer Science” Program. I have two questions:
1.) Will I have to declare Computer Science as an Area of Interest during the orientation? If not, then does paying the tution deposit mean that I have been admitted to the Pre-Computer Science program, just as SOLAR says. Actually I was a bit confused because the SBU website says that students will have to fill in the AOI preference form.

2.) If I give the AP Computer Science, then will it help me to get directly into the Computer Science major? (ofcourse, assuming that I’ll get a good score in the AP)
