Getting accepted into college, specifically the "top-tier" ones

I’ve been interested in getting into top universities like Stanford (that’s my top choice, although all my other options aren’t that high of a reach). I’m worried that my passion in two conflicting subjects will make me look like I’m jumping around. I enjoy science and I want a science related career, but I also want to be a creative writer. As a result, some of my extracurriculars are science related and some are writing related. Will this hurt my application?

Thanks!!

Why would it? As long as your app reflects interest in both, that is a good thing.

There’s no reason to think this will hurt your application. S admissions are a complete roll of the dice as it is, you might as well be different in some way.

Thanks guys!!

You go into Stanford undeclared. This is so that students can explore a variety of interests before they pick a major. Seemingly conflicting interests won’t hurt you in the slightest.

Stanford won’t mind as long as you are nationally ranked in both areas:) Seriously, please don’t fall in love with any schools that have low single digit acceptance rates.
