Getting accepted?

Im wondering will i get accepted into Georgia tech. Im a junior in high school and already preparing for college which i feel i should be doing. I go to a catholic school and live in ohio. I have a 3.4 gpa on a 4.3 scale so i dont know how that equates on 4.0 scale. I looked on the ga tech site and i have all the prerequsites to get in. Is there anything i should know about the admission process so i can get it done before i apply in a couple months?

That GPA is very low for Georgia Tech. Do you have an SAT score? What AP’s have you taken? E/C’s?

My gpa will be much higher this quarter like a 3.6 or 7. I take ap history and ap english. Next year ill take Pseop brit lit which is a college class that we get credit for. I didnt take my sat yet but i will in may and i take my act in april. What should i score on those? And a 3.4 at my school with the grading scale the way it is, is like a 3.7 but i dont know if the college will take that into consideration.

Try aiming for a 2100 Math+Reading+Writing (700+ Math). Your GPA does look low, but do you have a class rank? Your rigor (2 AP classes, 1 college classes) isn’t ideal. GT likes an emphasis on math and sciences.

What are your EC’s?

At this point, I’d say you are a reach for GT.

Well ive always been in honors math classes and science thats why i looked into georgia tech. I dont exactly know what ec’s are

And for my senior year i take honors physics, pre calc, ap brit lit, honors gov., sociology, and 2 electives which doesnt matter.

You need to be more than just an honors student for an elite engineering school - you should be one of the top math students in your class.

Only being in pre-calc with no AP science courses will really hurt your chances. You’ll need a really high SAT score and probably some good EC’s (extra curricular activities).

Well my school doesnt offer any science ap classes. The ap classes they offer are the ones i take. Would the college count it against me if my school doesnt offer it. Oh and i am one of the top math students, not to over exaggerate. But there are only 58 people in my class.

No. If your school offers honors and AP, take the AP course. If you school doesn’t offer AP, there’s not much you can do.
