Getting across campus...

Picking my classes and was wondering can you get across campus in 10 minutes? or is it better to stagger your classes. Would like to have back to back classes to get them out of the way but dont want to be running across the campus like an idiot.

All the way across campus? Do you have any examples of where you want to get to? Some things might be doable with a very fast pace but others can’t be done unless you have a bike.

Im not student but i did a summer camp last year. If your not an athletic person you might have a hard time adjusting at first. I walked everywhere i went and it was quite exhausting at first since i had to walk from my dorm to class which was halfway across campus. Depending on how hot it was it took me a good 25 mins. So taking weather and such( even though you wont be in school during the heat of the summer) into consideration would be a good idea too. If you want to do back to back classes you need to have a little time in between depending on how far your classes are and a bike would be a greattt investment. Anyway like i said i can only speak from a months experience so it might be different for a full time student. :)

I think 25 mins is a bit on the slower side. Can’t most people do it in 15?

20-25 mins is when you’re walking from one end of campus to the other…I used to have to walk from my dorm on south campus to the school of public health (next to eppley), which took 20 minutes, 15 minutes if I’m feeling energetic, and I’m fairly short (4’10"). I don’t think EVERYONE struggles with traveling across campus in time.

To the OP…it depends on how you like to pace yourself. D2 has tended to schedule herself so that she has nearly back-to-back classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, lighter loads on Tuesdays/Thursdays, and maybe one class on Friday. She’s the kind of student who does much better getting everything out of the way. However, in those instances where she had multiple things due or multiple tests on the same day, sometimes it could be pretty overwhelming. D1 tended to space things out more (but had several semesters with no classes on one day a week), but sometimes the extra time between classes became a pain (and more excuses to not go to a class after going back to the dorm came up…) In her case, it was a right workload, YMMV.

astrophysicsmom: thank you…I am registering this week so I might not have many options. I would prefer back to back classes but some students seem to feel that getting to class on time is an issue. I am also hoping to divide my classes up so I want have all my exams on one day

Is it possible to go from math building to computer science building in 10 minutess

^Yeah it definitely is.

I remember as a freshman going from the math building to Tydings Hall in 10 minutes. I made it, but the problem was that the Tyding lecture hall had no air conditioning, so I melted in class. I disagree with Drummer211. The first six weeks of the fall semester are as hot as the summer.

Tydings smells SO bad in the afternoons. ugh.

goodday, maybe you’re still smelling the scents that helidad left behind!

Thank you Boring 92

Is it possible to get from math building to english building in 10 mins? [MTH to SQH]
Thank you.

Not walking. Susquehanna is the furthest building from everything on campus. MTH to SQH is well over half a mile id say. Maybe 10 or 11 hundred yards.

When you register for classes, your schedule will show a red warning if the buildings are too far apart to be able to walk in 10 minutes. In that case, you can bring a bike and ride to class. Don’t let the distance prevent you from taking an important class.

^ No, it shows the red if your classes are 10 minutes apart, period. So if you have chem lecture and then lab 10 minutes later, it will still show the red; but these two classes will still be in the same building, and thus an easy 5 minute walk, tops.

^ That’s not correct as I just created my schedule and while I have classes within ten minutes of each other a couple of days, there is no red because the building are close.

Just making sure …
is it possible to get from CSI to ARM in 10 minutes? :>

One of my friends did that. She had to hurry, but I don’t think she was ever late.
