Getting admitted to different campus???

I have heard that applicants to Penn State University Park are often accept but for a different campus. Does this happen often. As an OOS student I am only interested in going to Penn State University Park campus. If I only select University Park on my application and no other campus would they still place me elsewhere??

Yes you are required to select two schools on your app, but you get a first and second choice. As long as you put U Park as your first choice, they will consider you for that first, regardless of what your other choice is. IF you don't get into UPark, then they will look at you for admission to the other campus. If you were to get in to the different campus though, you're not obligated to attend or anything

thanks for the reply

You are not required to put two campuses on the application. My D who goes to Penn State at main campus did not put an alternate campus on the application. And my S who just applied also did not put an alternate campus on the application. They suggest you do, but in my childrens cases they would not choose Penn State if they weren't admitted to main.

thank you that was the answer i was looking for

approx. 60% of students start off at a Sat. campus of PSU.
After 2 years they are auto. transferred to UPark. (to complete majors from UPark)

So, basically the freshman and soph. courses of all Psu majors can be completed at a sat. campus of PSu

This is true of most majors, but not all. Architecture, Music and Landscape architecture majors must start as freshman at University Park (I think there are a few more majors like this).
