So I got my FA today because I hadn't been eligible to apply for it until this december. The FA as you know comes for the academic year and not just for the semester. I (mostly) and my parent helped pay for the fall in full fees so the FA that is split in 2 for both semesters doesn't make sense because I already paid for the fall, I don't need the FA to be split in 2 but have it only provide for the spring semester which then would be more than enough. However, if it is split in 2 semesters (one for fall and the other for this upcoming spring) would I receive the payment I made in the fall back? I don't understand FA yet completely but if someone could help me that would be good to know. Thnx. By the way I am so glad that I even got something this year, esp since budget was extremely tight for my family. This query is just to be knowledgeable on the whole thing since if in case I have to get the fall refunded back, then I can reinvest in my upcoming postbaccalu plans.

Yes, if they split the FA, they will credit the fall amount and you’ll have an overage or a credit on your account. Once your spring tuition, fees, etc, are posted, and the spring FA applied, if there is still a credit on your account your school will refund anything to you. Some schools are good at doing it quickly, others take a while.
