getting an F but planning to retake class next quarter

Hi guys, I currently have a D in math right now. I was wondering if I should go for a C or intentionally fail the class and reake it in spring quarter for an A or B. ( I got to a CC and I want to apply to UCs and CSUs). I have a few more questions listed on the bottom.

  1. Will the F look bad on my transcript if I retake the course and get passing grade?
  2. On my college apps will I have to explain why I got an F?
  3. Should I try for C or take the F and retake?

@StephCurryGoat could you get a W instead? If you are planning on retaking the course anyways, take a W. It won’t count towards your gpa and is much better than F or C.

@lenocturne last day to drop with a W already passed, I was scared that if I dropped it that my reg date would be bumped down to a later date bc I won’t have enough units to be considered a full time student.
