Getting an F in a class?

Hi guys! I'm in my junior year of high school and I just finished my third quarter. I haven't seen my grade yet but I'm pretty sure I got an F in my AP Bio class for the quarter. The class is super hard and between that class and my AP US History class I have 7 hours of homework a night and I was just over stressed so my grades started to drop.

If my grade isn't an F it's probably low D... either way my year average before this was a B- so if I do well next quarter I will still pass for the year maybe with a C-?

Anyways, how will having an F for the quarter affect me when I'm applying for colleges? All my other grades throughout high school have been A's and B's so this would be literally the 1 exception and I'm freaking out.

=O Well:
1.) Something you’re doing isn’t right. Do you like Bio? Are you doing stuffs after school? Is the teacher a meanie?
2.) An F is very bad in any case. However, I’m assuming you still have: The next quarter to make it up + the finals. And If you really want redemption then get a 4/5 on AP Bio exam.

Otherwise we can’t help you. But if you find yourself spending 7 hours on one homework (I don’t think college students even spend that much time doing homework) then I recommend get assistance or see the teacher at least.

I like Bio, but all the work my other classes require is ridiculous and my Bio teacher expects us to put everything aside for his class. He’s not mean he’s just tough and has expectations that are far too high. (Along with my AP History teacher who’s class I was trying to save my grade for killing my Bio grade in the process. I’m the only person in the school taking both at once so I don’t really have anyone else to compare workload with.)

I’m hoping to focus as much energy as possible, and I’ve been getting help from one of my friends who has an A in the class.

It’s not that it takes me forever it’s the amount of work that he assigns, and I’ve tried telling him that I have other hard classes and that there’s family stuff going on in my life outside of school but he wouldn’t budge.

I’ll study my butt off for the AP Bio Exam and hopefully do really well this quarter and on finals.

Thanks!

Is there any way to take this class pass/fail, so that if you get at least a D it won’t count toward your GPA? (There are drawbacks to this, at least at my school, but it’s something to look into.)

7 hours a night sounds like an exaggeration. Either way, if you pull it up to a C for your semester you should be fine.

Well you are in AP so teachers expect to to put everything aside for that class. You can’t blame your teachers. If you take more than one AP class and get stressed out by the teachers high standards because you’re in that class, well, that’s on you. You shouldn’t be in that AP class if you aren’t willing to put everything else aside.

You gave the AP thing a good try, but it’s time to power it down. 7 hours a night is way too long for HS. Go back into regular classes and hopefully your grades and life will nornalize. GL

What is your schedule?
