Getting an invitation means nothing, right (UCD)?

I haven’t applied for a TAG at UCD yet, but I’ve got an invitation to participate of the UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions for Aggie Transfer Scholars Weekend.

I currently have 63 units at my CC with a GPA of 3.93 (IGETC complete, associates degree, intended major: Cognitive Science with emphasis in Computer Science, so I still have to take some classes before transferring out). My transcripts look clean so far, no Ws or repeated courses, but as an international student with permanent resident status, I’m not very familiar with the selection process in the US. I’ve been told I meet the requirements for TAGging to UCD, yet I know I could get rejected or I could be placed on the waitlist (I’ve been checking the waitlists threads and many transfer candidates there are look pretty solid).

So, my question is: getting an invitation to a Transfer Scholars Weekend means nothing, right? It’s not like the staff from UCD are out there scouting potential transfer students with real chances? :stuck_out_tongue: Don’t laugh, it’s a serious question, I don’t know how the selection process works here.

the invitation doesn’t “mean” anything in the sense that it doesn’t give you an edge as a prospective applicant. but it does mean that they’ve noticed with your units/gpa that you’re eligible for being a TAG transfer and that’s definitely a good thing! just say on top of it!

also, as far as I know, as long as you keep up your grades, you can’t be rejected from a TAG.

Thanks for your reply @yochocolate  I’m visiting UCD campus for the first time on Friday and I’m really excited. I’ll let you all know how it goes when I get back!

UCD has been named top college for women in STEM, so I’m already feeling this is the right place for me

I’ve enjoyed the transfer weekend a lot. The entire event was run by undergrad and some grad students who were once CCC transfer students themselves. We’ve attended several workshops and panels with faculty and students. Also, we’ve visited several labs and research facilities. They all did a terrific job answering questions and creating a fun atmosphere. UCD is definitely first in my list now, and I’d choose to go there even if admitted to Berkeley. Go Aggies! :stuck_out_tongue:

PS: If you guys happen to attend one of these events at UCD and some guy asks for a volunteer, please do raise your hand because you’re getting 20 bucks for free lol! :stuck_out_tongue:
