At orientation I picked the wrong discussion for the Engineering 100 class and now I can't fit in physics 160. I can fit it in with one of the the other discussions but the other discussions are all closed now. How do I get an override?

Never mind, I've got an idea...

I really need help now. My idea was that I would wait for spots to open up for the new orientation kids. When they did, I dropped the Engr 100 class I had so that I could grab the discussion I needed. When I tried to add the class, I got an error message saying that I couldn't add it. I don't know what to do. I need to take Engr 100 in the fall. I didn't break any rules, because the rule is that you can't change your section. I only wanted to change my discussion, but apparently Wolverine Access doesn't understand.

contact your engineering adviser. You definitely should have set out your schedule before finalizing anything though. Your required to take engr 100/101, so I'm sure your going to be able to change it, though your academic adviser may get annoyed (they're like that)

Persistence is rewarded at Michigan. Polite persistence, that is, not annoying persistence. Seek help from your advisor. If your advisor can't straighten it out, try someone else. But don't sweat it--if you need a class, you're going to get it. Michigan isn't going to let you enroll and then have you screw up your entire freshman year. They'll find a way to make it work, so don't panic, but don't be reticent and wait for someone else to step in and solve it.

I contacted my advisor and it all worked out.
