Getting around campus on crutches/J school

My D will most likely be having revision orthopedic surgery on her leg at about the time school starts next fall. How difficult will it be for her to get around campus with crutches for 6 weeks and then possibly a cane?

She will be in the J school.

I'd say this is a good question for the student health services people. Also, unless she's a transfer, she'll be spending more time freshman year outside the J-school. Housing seems like it would be more of an issue. She'd need a first-floor room if there's no elevator, for example. And have you checked into the availability of physical therapy? I have a niece who had emergency knee surgery just before school started (at another college), and getting to PT turned out to be a big problem for her. Is there a reason your D has to wait until late in the summer?

My husband has had knee replacement, so I'm familiar with the planning that has to go into it. No matter how well you think you have covered all the bases, there's always something. It's a big thing for a college freshman to have to handle along with all the other stresses of the first year.
