Getting Around Campus

If any body out there can take this question seriously, I want to know your opinion if it is considered lame for people to longboard to and from class. I am wondering if longboarders who maneuver the campus with grace and respect for the walkers are looked down upon just for being different(?). Is it weird? I don't know.

I don’t think anybody cares. I have seen it before and as long as they don’t run into me I pay them absolutely no attention.

However, people who take up room in a lecture hall with their boards **** me off.

You can’t longboard on our campus because it’s predominantly stairs, so I’d look at a long boarder like he was an idiot.

Some people do it. Nobody really cares.

I prefer a bike, but there are plenty of long boarders on campus. As long as you are somewhat able to do it and are not falling or running into things, it doesn’t matter one way or the other to me.

I’ve seen a lot of longboarders around my campus. And actually, I have a friend that finds guys on longboards really attractive (and other friends have agreed), so yeah, I don’t think it looks lame to a lot of people.

I think if it gets you to class and you can ride a longboard without falling on your face, it’s fine. You only look lame when you’re trying to go too fast and don’t know what you’re doing and fall.

Anyone using a wheel to get around to class is looked down upon. Not because they are using a wheel to get to class, but about 90% of them don’t show any real respect to people walking. Although the people who skateboard and stuff around campus are a lot more conscientious of people around them, and pick up their boards and walk when there is too many people around. The cyclists who think they can ride at full speed at a crowd of people are the main problem.

There are a lot of longboarders on my campus (not so much now since it’s cold, but when it was nicer out). As long as they don’t run into pedestrians or something, nobody seems to even notice or care.

Awesome…bump for more replies

Not lame at all. At my school, I see plenty of people longboard to class. It’s pretty common. They even have an organization at my school for people who longboard, hahaha, although I don’t know how active it is.

Anyway, just respect pedestrians if you ride on the sidewalks 'cause then people will look down on you.

Yes, many people on my campus do it. As long as you’re considerate of those walking. People walking have the right of way. As long as you’re not an ass about it, it’s not looked down upon.

For example, there was this kid I saw one time come around and skated right into this girl head-on. He hit her and she fell on the ground along with her take out meal that she got from one of the dining halls. To add insult to injury, all he did was get up and continue to skate on, without saying sorry and helping her up whatsoever. He said nothing. If you do that, prepare to be retaliated against.
