getting around on campus

i'm an incoming freshman, so i'll be living on north campus (donlon), and i'm in engineering, so it looks like i have to travel quite a distance to get to that quad. should i bring my bike, or are the buses good enough for transportation?

bus is easiest. depending on construction you can catch the bus next to jameson or in front of risley.

Walk. =D.

is bus free for students?

how far is the walk, i could do it if its not too far. but as i remember from when i visited two years ago, it was pretty far

Frosh get Bussing free for the first year… I’m bringing my Bike though, I’d rather bike around =)

i think about 1/2 the frosh walk and 1/2 take the bus…it’s doable.

if i register my bike, i’m guessing it doesn’t matter if i actually bring my bike or not right? since i think theres a deadline or something

I would strongly recommend walking, because there is nothing more uplifting than the beautiful morning scenery at Cornell.

Otherwise, freshmen get free buss passes. Some people ride bikes, but they are unnecessary and a hassle when conquering hills. The walk is about 15 minutes for the average walker, maybe 20 if you’re slow.

hmm ok that should be fine for me then

If you’re walking past Risley and you see the bus coming then hop on. If not, its a 15-20min walk. Really no big deal.

I thought it was going to be an issue but when I went to Cornell I LOVED walking around Campus it was just so nice and relaxing. The only time I would ever see myself using a bus would be in in heavy snow/rain.

and so will everyone else. it gets soo bad at times that the ones who wait for the bus at risley are screwed b/c everyone else already got on @ the townhouse/basketball courts stop.

Yeah, its really not a bad walk. Just get a good raincoat.

Same thing happens at Balch, since everyone else gets on at Helen Newman.
