So I transferred from Emory to WasHU. I notified Emory that I wasn't coming, but I didn't notify housing that I wasn't living on campus because I thought that was unnecessary.

Well, it turns out that I was required to notify housing of my decision not to come before July 30. (It said that in tiny print somewhere on reslife's website) Because I didn't, I was charged over $200 onto my student account at Emory. This makes me mad because I feel as if they cheated me.

I really don't want to pay $200 especially since I'm not enrolled anymore, and because I didn't get my housing assignment from Emory until July 12. Does anyone know any way of getting around this?

Because you signed something (assumed) because there was tiny print, I don't see a way out of it. You can always call them up and talk about it nicely, maybe try and get it reduced, but this is where housing makes a lot of money. They held a spot for you, and actually $200 is low. My school had a $800 fine.

Since you aren't enrolled, not paying it won't stop you from registering for classes or whatever other restrictions your school had in place, but they could send it to a collection agency or something if they wanted to--better to call and get it taken care of or pay up so it doesn't look bad upon you.
