Getting around

I’m a transfer student for 2012, and I was wondering how hard it was to get around the town of Tuscaloosa itself? Especially in regards to off-campus housing? I tried looking at the bus maps to see if they ran from there, but I ended up getting pretty confused.

Would I need a car down there?

A car would be helpful to a student living off campus, but depending on where you are planning to live, it may not be necessary. Many of the off campus apartment complexes have shuttles to and from campus. The UA has a bus that runs to Target, Walmart, and Midtown Village on the weekends, in addition to the campus bus routes. Bikes are popular on and around campus itself also. If you live near campus, there is also a Publix grocery store within walking distance. You will NOT need a car to get around on campus.

Hi,

There are several apt complexes that have shuttles to the school…
