Getting caught driving w/o a license

<a href="http://www.nysdmv.com/license.htm#points%5B/url%5D">http://www.nysdmv.com/license.htm#points</a></p>

I found the driver violation point system. You're probably just going to get 3 points off (unless they have points for driving a minor with a permit).

My friend got a speeding ticket without her license, too. She just paid her ticket and it was over. I don't think he knew/cared that she was underage though.

i crashed my car with a limited license, when i was only suposed to drive to school and back, and i was driving people home at 2 am... i got a 60 day suspension

Here's the law for NYS

<a href="http://www.nysdmv.com/license.htm#newdrivers%5B/url%5D">http://www.nysdmv.com/license.htm#newdrivers</a></p>

It says the supervising driver for permitholders has to be 21+, but you still can get your JR license at 16.

Wow, NYS is strict about driving!!! At balmy CA, we're only required to have supervising drivers 21+ if you:
a) have a permit
b) during 1st six months of having your license (a year now) if you're driving anyone other than your familymembers
c) are driving btwn 11PM and 6AM.

Thanks for all your help, guys...
Eeek I'm scared now for my court date...do you guys have any advice for how I should act, what I should say, etc.?

Just explain the incident as you remember it. Be honest and don't make up stuff. You don't want to end up in a web of lies.

Be respectful and dress conservatively. That's what I did, but of course, they usually have a pre-determined sentence. It's nothing like court on TV. I thought I was going to talk to the judge and explain what happened and everything and instead there were six of us all called up at once and we all got the exact same thing. I'm sure it will be similar to that. Not much variation as long as it's the first thing you've ever done.

could anything bad happen to me if i let my friend who only has her permit, drive my car without anyone else in it?

get a lawyer, if you can, and try to get the case deferred.

GlitterHairDye: I hope that doesn't happen...I was planning on showing the judge that I'm a good kid (3.95 GPA, Student Council Vice Pres., lots of community service, etc.), that it wont happen again and it was a completely out-of-character decision. I don't want him/her to think that I'm some teenage delinquint who isn't taking this seriously, or something.

tennisdude: I wish...but my parents would probably make me pay for it.

blythe, yes that's very wrong to do
She is driving a car without her license and driving a car she is not insured on=very very bad
your friend will be arrested if she gets pulled over

but can anything bad happen to me, the owner of the car?

cutee10102,
this guy in my school was pulled over when he was driving without his license...AND he had alcohol in his car (he was 16, I think). He only got his permit revoked for 2 months. I think it is really just dependent on the judge that you get. Good luck!
