I'd like to know how easy or hard it is to get the classes you need/want when you're not in honors. Since they get first dibs and i'm not in the honors program. I don't want to end up not graduating on time.

Thanks.

It's not uncommon for students to find that a course they want to enroll in is full. When that happens, most students either enroll in a different course, or decide to "crash" the class. Crashing means you show up on the first day of class, and put yourself on the waiting list. Over the course of the week, other students may drop, and you may get in. Depending on the course and department, some courses will be harder to get into than others. Different professors have different methods of facilitating the process, but most will make announcements regarding "crashers" on the first day of class. It is usually to the student's advantage if s/he emails the professor before the start of the quarter explaining the situation.

Flexibility in course planning and planning ahead is ideal =)

if i'm reading the chart right about mcp thing, then by the second quarter, i'm expected to take more than the minimum? the minimum being 12. http://www.advising.ltsc.ucsb.edu/mcp.php

Thanks ! :] As for the mcp thing, I have no idea.

The MCP is new to me, but in a nutshell, yes. Basically, they want you to average 15 units/qtr and 45 units/yr. I wouldn't worry about it. They will tell you all you need to know during orientation =)

so i'm good if i take 4, at the least, courses a quarter right?

You can take 3 if they are all 5 unit classes. You will probably end up taking a mixture of 4 and 5 unit classes. I'm planning on taking hopefully no more than 17 and no less than 13 every quarter. Anything more than that will just be too risky to my GPA. If I'm behind on units at the end of the year, summer school at the local CC or summer school at UCSB, that is if I end up going there.
