Getting Decisions

Do we find them out online, or do we have to wait to get a letter in the mail?
Is there a set day that Cornell is sending them out, or could it be earlier? Possibly in the middle of March? Because I really am getting impatient and it's only February.
And lastly, does Cornell do likely letters? More specifically CAS?

Hotel, CALS, ILR (I think) and HumEc (I think) do rolling admissions...the first wave should come soon, but only applicants who are accepted will be notified. Decisions will come via snail mail...decisions will not be posted online until the Ivy common notification date (which I believe is 3/31). For everyone else...they can check their admission decision online at 5 pm (I think) on the common notification date. A letter with the decision will follow. Rejected applicants receive one letter....accepted applicants receive 2 letters (1 from their college and 1 from Cornell).

So are you saying that we'll hear from all of the ivies on March 31st? That's really nerve racking haha i wish they broke it up a bit

I only applied to 1 Ivy back in my day...so I'm not familiar with the notification procedures of the other Ivy schools. But I would assume you have the potential to hear from all of them on the same day.

Oh sorry my post was misleading I didn't apply to all eight. But I was just asking if all of them do it on the same day.

Yes, they usually all do it on the same day. I think this year it's actually 4/1, but last year it was 3/31

Two years ago, my D was notified via email by all ivies right after 5, except for Cornell because of server crash (I think since then Cornell has upgraded its server).

I called the admissions office. They will email a login username and password out. Decisions will be available at 5 PM on 3/31.

^ oh wow. def. heard from more than one source it was 4/1. guess not

On the Yale website it definitely says March 31st for Yale, so if they all do it the same day then it's def. 3/31.

But also, does Cornell give out likely letters to academic kids?

from what i can gather, cornell's likely letters are pretty much the rolling admissions letters.

idk if the non-rolling admissions colleges send out likely letters though.

I know in my year they did send out "likely letters" but these weren't the same types of letters as the rolling admit letters, which state that you are or will be admitted. Engineering sent one of my friends a letter that said "you are likely to be admitted..." (using the exact word "likely"). However, these are sent to very very few applicants and in some cases, only strong minority applicants so that they can invite you to a special minority acceptance get together thing.
