My dear brother recently got deferred from Texas A&M College Station. He received an email stating that he was deferred due to something with Hurricane Harvey. He applied for computer engineering.
Does getting deferred mean he most likely got rejected from TAMU?
He finished his application on October 14th, a day before the priority deadline.
Like I said in the previous thread, your brother’s stats were right on the edge. However, if this is something due to Hurricane Harvey, there are decent odds that he will still end up getting admitted.
The deferral letters sent last year only meant that their decision would be made with the regular decision applicants (by mid Jan). Since his scores were on the cusp, it is likely that a decision for him will be made after all the higher qualified applicants are given a spot. As an admissions person has said numerous times on another forum, a review applicant’s file can be read many times before a decision is offered. Every applicant is a review applicant for engineering.
It is still possible your bother could be offered full admit to College Station. He could also be offered first year at Galveston or one of the engineering academies.
In case you were not aware, Hurricane Harvey pushed back the deadline to January 2 with supporting document to Jan 10.
